Ok I need to vent….

PILLS CANNOT FIX BROKEN TEETH

 

So, for a few weeks I have been housing someone’s male cat. In that time, not once did this person provide any food for him. Not once did they help handle him to do a proper exam. Not once did they come visit him.

This cat came to me with large, hard masses in his cheeks. His teeth are broken, missing but otherwise appears healthy and has a healthy appetite. The masses are NOT abscesses, more like tumor growths. They are solid, rock hard and “float”, meaning they do not feel attached to any inside structures.

I told the person I had no steroids to give the kitty, we will call him Rotty for this article. They wanted him to have antibiotics. Rotty had no infection and antibiotics will not help what is going on with his teeth and the masses. They are not abscesses. So, I have been giving him wet food since I know he has a hard time with crunchy food.

I was able to do a full exam on him, with pictures. I sent said pictures to this person. The pictures CLEARLY show all of his broken teeth.

Yesterday this person texts me….. Wants to check on Rotty. This person is upset that I will not pump him full of antibiotics. No matter how I explain it to them they do not seem to grasp that antibiotics will NOT help broken teeth or the issues caused by them. I also explained to said person that if they wanted to drug a cat with medication it does not need I want no part of it.

So, this morning this person wakes me up… (I totally forgot to put my phone on DND)!!! This person could not wait for me to have one cup of coffee….. First, they wanted to “visit” with Rotty  which is fine, but since he is not alone in the enclosure and there is an escape artist this person knows it takes two to keep Ninja in. This person calls repeatedly after saying she will wait until I have one cup of coffee.

It is barely past 7 a.m. at this point……

So, I sit down with my coffee and my phone rings. It’s her….Now she has to get Rotty to the vet by 9 a.m……. I know it’s a lie…. Today is a holiday……So, cup crashes into the sink and I stomp out and grab a carrier. I explain to Rotty his mom is picking him up and I am sorry she would rather drug him with a drug he doesn’t need rather than do a fundraiser to get the dental he does need.

I put his carrier behind my vehicle in the driveway and I go in. She was already on my driveway to come …..zero respect for other’s requests. None. Just because you are up at 4 a.m does not mean everyone has been up and it doesn’t mean we should jump because you say so.

So, she gets Rotty only to take him to someone who will pump him full of antibiotics and NOT address the dental surgery he desperately needs. The person she took him to speaks about how she is so good with her animals. If that was true then 2 weeks ago, when I sent her the pictures of his broken teeth and explained how she needed a fundraiser for what his medical needs were then she would have done it.

She claims she hasn’t worked in two weeks. Had plenty of time to get the fundraiser posted but I guess she just sat around waiting for someone else to do it…..

Instead, she played this morning / last night as if she did not know that she was supposed to do that, she thought I was gonna write it up and post it.

Um gee, it is NOT my cat. She was given everything she needed to make a post for it and she chose not to. She does this a lot with other cats as well…. She claimed Rotty wasn’t hers… He showed up in her trap right before she moved…. Um gee ya brought him with you when you moved that sort of makes him your responsibility.

She also knew Rotty was eating wet food….. She provided none and I had to limit what I gave him since I have a senior who can only have wet food now.

She kept saying she has antibiotics for him no matter how I explain no antibiotic on the planet is gonna help him. There is no pill that will fix broken teeth or the other issues they cause. Forcing him to take antibiotics is simply TORTURE since it will not address the root cause of the problem.

The masses in his cheeks are NOT abscesses, so antibiotics are not gonna help those either. They are rock hard tumor like growths that need to be surgically removed.

But in her wisdom, she dumps Rotty at another friend’s home who WILL TORTURE this cat with medication that is not gonna help him and instead of getting the surgical dental he needs,, they will only prolong his pain and suffering. Those masses have grown in the few weeks he was here. They may grow and interfere with his throat, as in his ability to breathe or swallow. But hey, the other friend is more than willing to medicate him so yeah, dump him there.

Pray for Rotty that he will get the surgery he needs and that he does not die under their all knowing standard of care. OMFG I see now why people say what they do about the other friend she just dumped Rotty on.

Maybe I am the stupid one I mean did some pill come about that fixes broken teeth and I just haven’t heard about it???? Poor Rotty, broken teeth, swollen gums, masses in his cheeks and she feels shoving pills down his throat is gonna help.

I told her today I will not be a part of that. She knows he needs dental surgery and she refuses to listen. So, I am done helping her for good. I cannot stand by and knowingly be a part of her neglecting the needs of this cat.

She sent him away because she does not want to deal with another one dying in her presence. What she doesn’t want to admit is that Rotty will be fine if he gets the surgery. Guess making a post asking for help with the cost is too much for her……. Easier to find someone who will medicate Rotty than it is to actually get him the needed dental…

Yeah I have pictures of his mouth……. Yes she has known for almost 3 weeks……. Now, I need to cry because I know his suffering is prolonged due to this person’s stupid, idiotic ideas that pills are gonna fix him……..

I hope she can sleep well knowing Rotty will be in pain, the side effects from those pills will make him miserable and his teeth will not magically grow back or repair themselves while she insists on the pill “cure”. Yet another kitty she ignores the medical of. It is the last one I will be silent about though.

Rotty is a great kitty, sweet personality, neutered and so chill. He does not deserve this!!!!

But she is gonna be mad at me because I would not shove antibiotics into him, that I did not write up a fundraiser for her cat, that I simply asked for her to allow me to have a cup of coffee this morning.

She needs to stop lying to people. We know she never took him to the vet. We know she took him to the other friend’s house because they will force antibiotics into him.

GREAT. Make him antibiotic resistant and when he does get sick and actually needs antibiotics they are not gonna help him. Again, stupid people I swear!!!!

Why is it so hard to ask for help for his surgery????? Others were lined up to help share the post and help get the word out…… But it was too much trouble.

When you screw around and this condition kills him……. I pray you dig the hole yourself, not like the last one you let pass and then refused to bury….. Left the body until someone else finally buried it.

Ok, off my soap box and gonna go chill with my kitty clan…… They are binge watching School Spirits and seem to love Wally for some reason. I am praying for Rotty though.
