An Interesting Conversation Last Night

 

Last night I had an interesting conversation in text with someone……

She had sent a YT video that asked for prayers, then began general chit chat asking how I have been etc…

So, when I start showing her the pix of the cat enclosure I have near finished, she proceeds to tell me how much she HATES cats and wants to unalive the ones that come around her house.

I offered to go trap the ones by her house….. She refused.

As the conversation went on she gets upset because my life revolves around the animals and all she wanted to talk about was the prayer request and getting people to repent, how we are called to get people to repent.

I pointed out that each of us has different gifts and a different calling. She got upset and argued that our only calling was to get people to repent. She did not want to hear how each of us is good at different things, meaning each of us is called to different missions. In her eyes and mind we all only have one calling.

I explained my calling to help the unwanted and unadoptable cats, she said it is the devil distracting me from God’s calling…..

I reminded her that cats are God’s creatures and my calling is to care for the ones He sends my way….. Again she called it the devils work. I explained how she sounded like the king in the Dark Ages who killed all the cats…. She said if she had it her way she would. I then pointed out how that once the cats were gone the Bubonic Plague wiped out over half of Europe. According to her the devil did that too, not the rats……

She went on about how cats will matter little in WW3….. I tried to express how they have a very important job in all times. At this point her rhetoric became almost scary, to the point of delusional so I simply said I will pray that you become enlightened about all of God’s creatures. She went off that this was not the prayer request she asked for.

My response was that I will pray that the anger in her heart towards God’s creatures be lifted. Again, she got upset about it not being what the request was for. So, again, I reworded it….

I will pray that you understand you cannot love all of God’s creation with hate in your heart. At this point she finally stopped responding. So, I lit a candle, said a little prayer and let it go.

 

I get a similar response from dog rescuers. I speak to one, in particular, who has been a little upset with me that I will NOT intake dogs, especially larger ones. But it’s on the “euth list” it needs help soon….. Ok, I do not have the set up to be pulling dogs, nor do I have the HELP. Remember, I am 56 years old with physical limitations. Some other rescuers fail to remember this point. I have large dogs of my own and they are a handful for me.

People do what they are good at, what they physically can. I am good with CATS. I will not apologize for that or justify why I will rescue feral cats rather than pulling from shelters. Ferals and strays need just as much help as cats in shelters do, mainly to prevent them from being one of the cats in the shelter!!!! So, I get them BEFORE they are sent to a shelter and put on a “euth list”……. How is this a bad thing????

I do not judge others for the type of rescue they choose to. I try to be supportive and help them network their animals….. Not one of them helps network a single kitty that I post though….. Why? Because in their eyes cats are not worthy enough of their support.

So, I will do my thing. You do your thing. We all play a part in the rescue world regardless of how some feel about cats. I will be here, teaching the kitties every day. When your rodent problem is beyond what you can handle, I have cats that can solve it for you. Thank you!

Yes, I train the kitties to hunt. No, I do not feel bad for the field mice and kangaroo rats that are sacrificed for this purpose. I trap them live and give them to the kitties. This is their purpose.

Now, I do need to get to the morning chores and spend some time with the animals.
