Voting Advice

Politics 101 - How to and Who to vote for:

Someone taught me a long time ago that if I wanted to vote for someone who speaks for the people, there are a few things to look for.

1. How long have they been in politics? Meaning, have they ever held any other ob or are they a career politician. I was taught to NEVER vote for the career politician - always choose the contender who has held other menial jobs.

2. Are they from a family of politicians? Again, I was taught to avoid the contender that is running on the back of the family name or connections.

3. Have they held lower elected offices? Check their track record. If they upheld their promises in the lower offices there is a good chance they would do so in higher offices. If they failed to uphold promises in the lower offices there is a great chance they would fail to in higher offices.

4. What is their track record in speeches on the house floor? THIS is one of the most important points, but also the one people rarely take into consideration. How do they vote on bills that matter to YOU. Every bill is available to the public to read on the website, yet most people do not take the time. Every bill lists who sponsors it and how each member votes. Is the contender consistent or are they riding whatever wave is popular? If they are consistent on things there is a good chance they speak for the people. If they flip flop with whatever is popular at the moment then there is a good chance they will not be a good choice. (Great recent example is the fact that in 1982 Biden voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, but now claims to be upset that the Supreme Court overturned it)

5. With those currently in office look at their financial status. Did they have it before going into politics or did that wealth occur after being elected. A contender who got rich while in office is likely corrupt and does not serve the people.

6. Does the contender uphold the constitution? If the contender does not stand for the rights defined there or basic human rights they are not a good choice.

7. Track record of accomplishments while in any elected office. What has the contender actually achieved for the people while in an elected position? Great example people seem to overlook is the 1994 crime bill, sponsored by Biden himself. That bill is why so many black men are serving crazy long sentences right now. Another great example, Harris in California. She is the sole reason so many are serving life or near life sentences in California over MINOR drug charges. What have they done to rectify that? Nothing! When looking at accomplishments, also look at the minority groups these accomplishments will most affect. In the case of the two just mentioned, all of their accomplishments directly affected inner city minorities the most.

8. What is their stand on balancing the budget and do they have a feasible plan for it? Is the contender going to add to the deficit - which in turn raises taxes for everyone, or do they have a workable plan to reduce the deficit and lower taxes for everyone? Do not let them gaslight you with the "tax the rich" bullshit. We all know taxing the rich will NOT actually tax the rich. The cost will be sent down the line to the consumer who will pay a higher price for goods and services to offset the tax increase the rich will see, thus rendering the "tax the rich" idea.

9. Does the contender want to increase the size of government and increase regulations on the citizens. If they do, then this is not a good choice. Our government is already so large it has zero accountability and it has regulated nearly everything to the point that no one can get ahead in life as it is right now. Look at the contender who seeks less regulation that affects the daily life of the ordinary person.

10. Length of time actually in office - what I mean by this is look at someone who has held or is currently in office and seeks election / reelection. There are 365 days in a year. How many of those days was the contender actually working and how many were they away from the office, on vacation or on the campaign trail kissing ass instead of getting actual work for the people done? The contender you want to vote for is the one who spent most of their time in the office working for the people. If they spent their time out and about kissing ass on tv or in person, this is NOT the right choice.

Hopefully these tidbits will help people make informed decisions when they go vote in the future!
