How Many More Excuses?

I have to vent about something I have been quiet on for 3 years now.

In 2020 I got my truck from Greg. It has back taxes, at the time the taxes were just under $1000 and Greg promised to pay them. We went to DMV together, put the truck in my name and he was told by the lady at DMV the taxes had to be paid in full, no payments. He promised the DMV lady it would be done.

Then he blew the motor in his 2020 Kia Soul. He could not get it covered by the warranty so he had to get a cheap car to drive to Texas. I sat online and found him a nice Volvo wagon. He goes to Texas and while there he decides to try to take out a small loan. 

The place he attempted the loan with was a scam. They cleaned him out near $10,000 which to this day he has still not recovered all of it. Then he pays over $7,000 for a new motor in the Kia. His girlfriend wrecks the Volvo so now he has to get her another vehicle.

The Kia has a fender bender has to fix that. He NEVER reports any of these small incidents to his insurance - instead he pays cash to repair shit. 

He also likes PT Cruisers and in the last 3 years has bought several that turned out to be junk. His Sante Fe, the girlfriend drives, is always needing work. 

He goes to Vegas. He goes to Detroit. He does the flea market a few times a week. 

All the while I sit waiting for the back taxes on the truck to be paid. All the while more taxes are piling on because DMV will NOT permit payments, they want the full balance paid at one time. 

Because I am low income, SSI only, Greg will use this to his advantage. He will toss me $50 here and there and say to take it off what he owes on the taxes. Which is all well and good, except at this rate the taxes will never be paid in full because yearly they amount to far more than he gives me here and there.

It is now 2023 and the back taxes are near $2,000 and he argues me that he is not responsible for the 2021 - 2023 taxes. He doesn't understand that because he failed to live up to his agreement of paying what was due in 2020 there are stiff penalties that have been tacked on to the total amount.

DMV will also NOT release a title to me until those taxes are paid. Yes, I have paperwork showing I own the truck, but no actual title. Greg says junk it and buy another one. No yard will give me enough to pay off those taxes AND buy another truck. The most a yard will give is around $900. Also, selling the truck for junk does NOT release the back tax liability. I still have to pay that!

My deal with Greg was that I would trade him 1 acre of land once the truck was street legal. He takes care of the back taxes and I will handle getting it smogged. He has been asking about marking off his acre and starting the paperwork for it, and wanting one of the junkie campers up here to use for storage so he can clean out his storage unit.

He has not fulfilled his part of the agreement yet on the back taxes and the longer it goes, the more taxes pile up. Taxes that I cannot financially handle and he knows this! Greg also hits me up for my recycling, the deal is the split is supposed to be 50/50, yet I always seem to come out pretty much empty handed when he hauls them off. 

Before he retired he was earning roughly $10,000 a MONTH, yet he could not or would not make an effort to handle the back taxes on the truck. There has always been an excuse. Some of them so ridiculous it isn't even funny. Like when he got scammed. As long as he has known me I have educated him on how scammers operate and he still got on a 3 way with the scammer and his bank and gave this twat full access to his bank account!

But somehow I have to wait because now he has to recover from that. How is him being scammed my fault when I took the time to educate him on how the scammers operate BEFORE he got scammed?

How can he afford to buy multiple PT Cruisers, but not put a dent in the back taxes on the truck? Then drive them up here to show them off....... Does he not understand how hurtful it is to KNOW he had enough to pay the taxes on the truck and he chose not to?

Now he is taking a trip to Michigan. Got a text this morning that he hit a deer in New Mexico. Of course he did not report it to the insurance...... Yet another excuse as to why the back taxes will not get paid. Now he will have to fix the Kia Soul AGAIN because he will not let his insurance handle all the fender benders he has!

Each excuse is getting redundant. Each time he promises, something else comes up. What am I to do?

The truck I love so much and NEED so much is never going to be street legal, yet Greg keeps pressuring me about the acre of land. Gee dipshit, maybe I would be motivated about the acre if you were motivated about living up to your part of the agreement!

I am also hesitant on the acre because of his past history of wanting to rent out his properties to tweakers. He had a nice place in Barstow that he continued to rent to scumbags. It is in a trailer park and the park finally gave him the boot. He lost the place because the last people moved in illegally and had so much drug traffic the park evicted GREG. He was buying that mobile home and lost over $20,000 he had invested in it, plus a bunch of his furniture.

He spoke of putting a camper out here and renting it out. I am NOT comfortable with that considering his history of choosing shit renters and my history of the renters I have had. Greg knows this but his hunger for money blinds him.

He doesn't understand why I am upset over this. I am NOT even going to begin the paperwork for the acre until the truck is street legal. Our agreement was truck street legal FIRST then he could hire a surveyor to mark off the acre and get the paperwork done. Why is it people want their part of the deal without fulfilling their part of the obligations?!?!?!

Funny thing is, if I ever borrow $20 bucks for generator gas he is bugging the hell out of me until i repay it. But, no matter how I bug and beg the back taxes on the truck keep piling up.

I am so done with this bullshit. After 3 fucking years it is quite obvious he is NOT going to handle that obligation. The deal is broken beyond repair at this point and I must decide how to handle the truck.

Do I file in small claims? Do I sell it for parts and hope to recoup what I have put into it? Do I try to salvage title it and get it street legal that way? Ideas would be nice, ones that work. Would a lein sale clear up the back taxes? Does anyone know?

Right now the truck needs a fuel pump, but what's the point? If I cannot get it street legal it is useless to me! 

I am so tired of getting screwed over in these deals - seriously. Greg wants one of the junk campers, know what I told him yesterday? Minimum $2000 upfront all at once or no deal. He doesn't like those terms. Gee, I am trying to clear up the truck issue he created and he doesn't like the terms on a junk camper for storage?

Well, I don't like all of the fucked up excuses I have listened to for the last 3 years.. Now he has a new one. Hit a deer so he will have to fix the Kia.... What next? Sometimes I sit and wonder what fucked up excuse will be next because there WILL be one. There always is.......
