Kim Potter / Daunte Wright - thoughts from the catlady

 Ok I have watched the RAW body cams videos..... I try to stay away from the rheotoric because I want to be open minded about what I see and hear on the RAW video.

What I know to be facts and then my opinion...

1. Daunte was pulled over for EXPIRED TAGS and was going to be cited for the air freshener.

2. Daunte has a WARRANT and it was for a violent crime

3. Daunte resisted arrest for the warrant which created chaos at the scene

4. Daunte was not even 20 years, not even legally old enough to buy liquor but had a baby and a violent felony charge

Now my thoughts on the entire matter since Kim Potter's trial is over.....

1. I do not believe there is ANY excuse for a 20 + year veteran of the force to mistake a gun for a taser

2. I do not believe she meant to hurt Daunte

3. Daunte CHOSE to resist and try to flee.... His own actions CAUSED the chaos that led to his death (it's called personal accountability folks and it works BOTH ways)

4. Although the sentence for Kim Potter was not what the family wanted, it was a JUST sentence. 

5. Daunte was not alone in that car, his girlfriend was with him. Daunte CHOSE to endanger both of their lives by resisting, trying to flee and causing a shot to be fired that COULD HAVE hit her. What would have happened to Daunte IF the shot had hit the girlfriend as he fled, speeding away and then crashing? Daunte would have been arrested ANYWAYS and also been charged with MURDER - meaning life without parole!!! Daunte CHOSE the course of action that day. His own actions put MANY people in danger not just his own life. The fact that he drove AFTER being shot and then crashed - he endangered EVERY other motorist on the road that day. Daunte displayed no care for anyone except himself.

6. Kim Potter made a rookie mistake that should NOT have happened. I did not watch every second of the trial, but I saw enough. She was fired, she was held accountable and will go to prison. It might not have been the popular sentence but it was a just one. She would NEVER have even pulled her weapon had Daunte not resisted (remember personal accountability works both ways). Because Daunte put her in a position where she had to draw the weapon SOME responsibility lies at his own feet!!

The problem we have as a society is that we want to demonize law enforcement without holding accountable the criminals who put them in impossible situations. Kim should have known she had her gun, sorry to her supporters but a taser does NOT even FEEL the same as a gun so yes, she should have known she had the wrong weapon. 

I cannot stand the hypocrisy. The liberal left screams accountability and better training..... Well that works both ways folks. Personal accountability for the criminals and maybe better training from their parents would prevent them from making bad decisions that get them in these situations in the first place!!!

Maybe if the parents taught their children personal responsibility, accountability and respect then these incidents would not happen at all.....

As a society, we will never move forward to better things until all sides are equally held to the same standards!!!
